Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteering is a rewarding way to be involved with your child's education.
Click here for school-wide volunteer opportunities on SignUp Genius. We have volunteer opportunities for all levels of involvement, be it helping in the classroom during the school day, gardening on a Saturday, or editing the website from your own desk. Below are a few examples of ongoing volunteer opportunities. Tours: Fall is tour season and Sunnyside needs parent volunteers to greet potential new families and answer questions about the school and your family's experience. Sign up here. Library Assistants: When there is a parent volunteer, the librarian can focus on assisting the students when they choose their books. This is very important to their reading development and enjoyment. Contact our librarian, Georgie Gibbs, for more info. Technology: The expansion of technology in our school is outstripping the District's ability to support our teachers in a timely manner. Can you help? Email [email protected] or call Jonathan at 415.308.8104 for full details. See full Tech Task List Want to help but not sure how? Email volunteer coordinator Kelly Pettersen or find her on the yard in the morning to find the perfect fit between what you can do and what the school needs! Community Volunteer Opportunities
Community members who do not have children in the school are also invited to volunteer, but should receive training through San Francisco School Volunteers first. Contact them through the San Francisco Education Fund, 415.749.3700.
