News

Sunnyside’s teachers, staff, and PTA communicate with parents in various ways, including this website, and we also have ways for parents to communicate with each other.

New Sunnyside parents are automatically added to our various communications below, but to add or remove an email address from any platform in the future, or to ask questions about communication at the school, please email .

Flyers and Posters
Teachers sometimes place flyers for specific events and after-school classes in students’ backpacks. You should check your child’s backpack every night. Occasionally, SFUSD will approve the distribution of a flyer for an outside organization, under strict district rules. Posters go up on the walls of the school for most community events and fundraisers, and we are also have a kiosk sign near the Hearst Street entrance.

Wednesday Envelope
Every Wednesday afternoon an email goes out with information about upcoming events, deadlines, and other school news. It sometimes includes a letter from our principal, too. For parents who are not online, a paper version is placed by teachers in the backpacks of students whose parents request it.

Email, Texting, Calls
Some teachers prefer to use email to communicate with their classrooms. For parents who are not online, they may send home paper flyers. Sometimes SFUSD will text or call with important districtwide information. Make sure your emergency contact information is correct by calling or checking in at the school office.
